Classic Ratings vs UpPromote
UpPromote is the biggest affiliate app on Shopify, and it takes a percentage of every sale your affiliates make. Classic Ratings runs the same programme for a flat monthly price, in the app that already knows which customers love your products.
Classic Ratings
Per month (Growth plan)
No fee on affiliate sales. Reviews, Q&A and shoppable video included.
UpPromote
Per month (Growth plan)
Plus 2% of every successful referral sale. Affiliate only, no reviews.
What the percentage costs
UpPromote's paid plans charge a monthly fee and a cut of the sales your affiliates bring in. Ours is the monthly fee, and nothing else.
| Affiliate sales in a year | UpPromote, per year | Classic Ratings, per year |
|---|---|---|
| $25,000 | $860 | $588 |
| $50,000 | $1,360 | $588 |
| $100,000 | $2,360 | $588 |
| $250,000 | $4,830 | $588 |
Both billed monthly. UpPromote figures are their Growth plan at $29.99/mo plus 2% of referral sales, except the last row, where their Professional plan at $89.99/mo plus 1.5% works out cheaper. Annual billing takes 17% off UpPromote's monthly fee and takes ours to $490; neither changes the percentage.
Where the line actually crosses
Below roughly $11,400 a year in affiliate sales, UpPromote's Growth plan costs less than our Growth plan. Above it we do, and the gap widens with every sale, because their bill grows with your programme and ours does not. That is the honest version: if you are testing affiliates with a handful of orders, they are cheaper. If it works, they get more expensive exactly as it starts paying off.

Where UpPromote goes further
Recruiting strangers
Their marketplace and their creator database put your programme in front of affiliates who have never heard of you. We help you recruit the customers you already have.
Multi-level commissions
If you want affiliates earning on the affiliates they recruit, they have it on the $89.99 plan and we do not build it at all.
Years of a head start
UpPromote has thousands of App Store reviews and a deep bench of affiliate-specific features. Ours is newer, and it is deliberately the programme a reviews app should have rather than the biggest one on the store.
The bottom line
UpPromote is a serious affiliate platform and it is better than us at finding affiliates you do not already know. If recruiting strangers at scale is the plan, install it.
If your best affiliates are the customers who already left you a five-star review, that is a list UpPromote cannot see, because it does not collect reviews. We do, and we can turn one into an affiliate invite in a click.
And whatever your programme earns, our price stays $49. Reviews, Q&A, shoppable video and affiliates in one app, with no cut of your sales.
